Grief and lossFor grief that doesn't fit the shape people expect.
Grief is rarely tidy and almost never on schedule. Sometimes it arrives long after the funeral. Sometimes it's for someone still alive — a marriage, a parent you never got, a version of your life that isn't happening.
A walk is a good place for it. There's no eye contact to manage, no couch, no clock on the wall, and nobody waiting for you to be finished.
What brings people here
- People have stopped asking, and you're not close to done.
- You're grieving someone complicated, and it isn't simple sadness.
- You're carrying a loss you don't feel entitled to.
- You're managing everyone else's grief and have nowhere to put your own.
- The anniversary is coming and you can feel it.
- You're grieving a life that didn't turn out the way you planned.
What this is
One hour of careful listening, honest questions and no attempt to fix you. I've spent 25+ years with people in the hardest moments of their lives, and I've written children's books — Good-bye Angry Bugs, Teary Bugs and Worry Bugs — about naming hard feelings instead of hiding them.
It is not grief counselling or therapy. If clinical support is what you need, I'll say so plainly.
How it works
Walks start at North Glenmore Park in Calgary and stay on public paved paths. $175 for the hour. From anywhere else, the same hour by private video. You can add a personal written follow-up letter for $100 if you'd like something to keep.
Every conversation happens on the walk or on the video call. Nothing is recorded and nothing is documented. I don't write reports for legal matters, testify, or communicate with third parties. This is a private thinking conversation — not therapy, not counselling, not legal advice.
Questions people ask
Is this grief counselling?
No. It's a private walking conversation, not clinical or therapeutic care. Andrea will tell you directly if she thinks you need a therapist or physician.
Can I walk and talk about a loss that happened years ago?
Yes. Much of Andrea's grief work is with people whose loss is no longer recent and whose support disappeared long before the grief did.
Ready to talk?
One hour. $175. In person in Calgary, or by private video from anywhere. Optional personal follow-up letter afterward for $100.
